1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Richard Petty Edition

Richard Petty won his 200th NASCAR Cup race in 1987 driving a Pontiac Grand Prix and stayed loyal to the brand up to his retirement.

The 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Richard Petty Edition is a rolling tribute to “The King” celebrating his storied career and his final year of racing. Built on Pontiac’s redesigned W-body platform, the Grand Prix had already earned praise for its sleek, aerodynamic styling and driver-focused cockpit, making it a fitting canvas for a special edition honoring one of racing’s most iconic figures.

Built by ASC for Pontiac, this limited-production model (just 1000 produced) featured distinctive touches that set it apart from standard Grand Prix trims, including Petty’s signature STP-inspired color scheme, commemorative badging, and unique interior appointments.

The Richard Petty Edition shows just over 22,700 miles from new. It’s powered by GM’s fine 3.4L DOHC V6 backed by a 4-speed automatic. Included are the special documents that were delivered with the Pontiac, a show card, and Petty memorabilia. It’s even been autographed by Richard Petty on the glove box door.

        LEGIT Best Car I Owned

        by AmestAR1984 on 8/26/2019 2:54:07 PM

I got this car, as my first car, many years ago. It had 198,000 miles on it at the time - and I put another 70k on it before I invested in a newer, better (or so I thought) car. I would (legally) race mustangs, and all those super fast cars in my Grand Prix - but nothing had the power that my car did! Not that it’s of any importance, it was just an awesome and fun perk. I semi-lightly rear-ended a friend’s SUV (luckily it was a friend) and their car had to have the bumper replaced, which I obviously paid for - but the silver bullet didn’t have a dent. I backed into a brick wall - no damage. Only damage I really was able to do to this thing was when I hit a curb i popped the tire and drove on the rim a bit (because I didn’t know what else to do!) but that’s not something I could blame on the car! It was SOLID. You could feel it’s weight when driving - especially in the snow! They don’t make cars like this one anymore. Sadly. After owning a brand new Mercedes, a few maxima, a BMW and an Acura TL... I can honestly say, I never felt as comfortable and safe as I did in the Grand Prix, anddd it lasted well over 268,000 miles I’m sure. I sold it at 268k miles to get my second car - the maxima... which only lasted me a few years before I HAD to sell it due to an O2 sensor that was recalled 3 times and located inside the engine -which may or may not have been able to fix my rejection sticker and I wasn’t about to pay to have someone take apart my engine then put it back together to find that it didn’t work... needless to say, this car was one of a kind. If you find one in somewhat good condition - buy it, esp if a first time driver needs a beater car.…
